Getting our nest in order

During these first three weeks we have been getting stuff out of boxes, planting, scrambling to get feet on the ground for those first feeder roots to start descending. Pretty things are going up on the walls. Coziness is settling in here.

The weather has been lightly rainy for about two weeks. Today we just had scattered clouds; the daylight was brilliant! Temperature neared 80! Our transplanted tomatoes and friends are so ready to take off, once that summer heat begins. We are getting our bikes ready, too.

Only two weeks until Aaron arrives for the summer. We are really looking forward to this time together. He will meet his baby nephew, Ben. Benjamin Eder is so sweet. Such a little package of life. Heavenly family time, coming up.

I hope to post an entry once a week. Also, I hope Valori and Aaron will write. I don't feel settled enough to write in detail, but that time is coming...

We landed!

Two weeks and one day ago, we arrived at our new home. Valori's nephew, Lucas, was on hand to help us pack and then drive up to Corvallis. What a lifesaver he has been! The four of us (Valori, Aaron, Lucas and me) drove through serious Bay Area Friday rush hour traffic to Peet's in Fairfield. Then on to our hotel in Red Bluff to stay the night.

Maya, Eder and Jeannine were at our new home to welcome us on Saturday afternoon. We unloaded the truck on Sunday in a light drizzle and unpacked enough to be able to sleep in our own beds. Mayaand Eder provided a room for Lucas for his stay in Corvallis.

On Tuesday, we took Aaron to the airport for his flight back to his Pacific Grove home. That weekend, he and his Dad would be in Sacramento for his History Day competition.

Valori's dear friend Valorie Dallas arrived on Friday, the 12th, to stay with us for 3 days. What a Godsend! She really helped us settle in, thought with us about our future garden and home, and put in a garden for us! What a heavenly time.

Since then, we have been unpacking and adding to our garden, mainly. We are tired and energized. Sometimes feeling strong emotions. We're finding our way around town better and better. Such beauty here! Pacific Northwest in springtime. We have been through days of 90+ degrees and cool, lightly rainy days. All in two weeks!

Valori is ecstatic. She is not working yet and is in the garden "all the time". Has not touched her computer yet! She gets to see Maya every day. Heaven.

I have spent so much time trying to get us all hooked up to the internet -- and still things don't work right. Aaargh! We may switch from our DSL to cable. So far, I'm not able to get images up on this blog. I hope to post a page a week when we settle in.

In three weeks we will pick up Aaron at the airport. He will be with us for 2 months. Yippee!

We have missed our dear friends in Monterey. I've missed my family. Emotions.
